DCD Electric Inc.’s President and General Manager, Michael Eugene DeHorney, completed his 4-year apprenticeship in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers as one of the first African American Electricians in IBEW LU 2000 in 1974.
He started in tunnel construction in 1988 on a 16' LOVAT EPB TBM, for a joint venture of J.F.Shea Co. and Traylor Bros on the North Outfall Replacement Sewer project in Los Angeles. From that first exposure to the world of underground mechanical excavation, he has since installed, maintained and in some cases rebuilt 11 Tunnel Boring Machines throughout North America.
Mr. Dehorney was the Electrical Superintendent responsible for all permanent electrical systems (power, controls, lighting, fire detection, ventilation, and CO monitoring) on the 44,000' tunnel for the LA Metro B-251 Redline Subway systems from 6ths & Vermont to Hollywood and Highland Ave.
